“A time to stand still” is an original oil painting on canvas, one of my latest series, 20″ x 30″, using full texture and contrast to express the colours of the Irish landscape at dawn. This painting was painted at the beginning of a period of uncertainty caused by the global pandemic of 2020, and at the time, I felt the need to use the comforting softness of pastels. My usual strong contrast reflects the strange sensation of events tumbling too rapidly, against the imposed stillness of a word “caught in the headlights”.
